Healthy Diet and Nutrition

What is a Healthy Diet?

  • Helps maintain or improve overall health
  • Consists of fluids, macronutrients, micronutrients, and adequate food energy
  • Balance of carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins, minerals and water
  • Helps to protect against malnutrition
  • Prevent certain serious diseases such as heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes
  • Help to reduce your risk of developing some cancers
  • If you become sick, eating a healthy diet may help you to recover more quickly
  • A main way of preventing obesity and overweight is to eat a healthy diet. If you are overweight or obese, eating a healthy diet can help you lose weight

Nutrition Facts

  • You don't need to eat every 2-3 hours
  • Eggs are one of the healthiest foods you can eat
  • Sugary drinks are the most fattening product in the modern diet
  • Low-fat doesn't mean healthy
  • Weight loss supplements rarely work
  • Calories count but you don't necessarily need to count them
